While I do not recommend WinAES as a security tool, I do recommend another simple open source security tool, John the Ripper.
Its tool list includes:
Hashcat: perform GPU accelerated password cracking against offline data
AES: create AES keys
Hashcat2: create and test hash and cipher algorithms, including MD4, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA 70238732e0 chanvyrd
